Flavorful Low-Sodium Family Meals - Fiesta Style

There are so many health benefits to reducing the amount of salt in your diet. We eat quite a bit of processed food at our house and when we go out to dinner and that means a danger of consuming to much salt. So when we do cook at home, we try to reduce the amount of sodium we add to food as much as we possibly can.

There are alternate ways to spice up your food without adding salt. One of them is adding Mrs. Dash salt-free seasoning blends into your dishes for extra flavor, we want to hear how you make your family meals flavorful and appealing!

Fiesta Chicken Drummettes Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 4 tsp Mrs. Dash® Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend
  • 1 lb Chicken Drummettes
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F. Lightly brush the chicken drummettes with olive oil.
  2. Sprinkle Mrs. Dash® Fiesta Lime Seasoning Blend on all sides.
  3. Bake for 30 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.

Pico de Gallo Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5mL) Mrs. Dash® Garlic & Herb Seasoning Blend
  • 1 tsp (5mL) Mrs. Dash® Extra Spicy Seasoning Blend
  • 2 medium-size tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup (60mL) red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120mL) lightly packed fresh cilantro leaves, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. (15mL) olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp. (30mL) freshly squeezed lime juice
Directions:
  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly.

Guacamole Recipe

It only takes four ingredients to get the party going. Make ahead and refrigerate, or impress your guests by preparing table-side. But be prepared to share your secret ingredient - Mrs. Dash® Southwest Chipotle Seasoning Blend.
Ingredients:
  • 2 Tbsp. (30mL) Mrs. Dash® Southwest Chipotle Seasoning Blend
  • 2 ripe avocados, halved, pitted

Directions:

  2. Stir in diced tomatoes, and let sit at room temperature for 1 hour before serving.
